Respect in the workplace is a core principle that supports a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment.
On top of our existing policies and standard training, in November each year, we dedicate a month to focus on Respect@Work with the aim to maintain a culture that promotes collaboration, reduces conflict, and ensures a safe and supportive workplace for everyone.

Bullying

Workplace bullying is the repeated, unreasonable behaviour directed at an individual or group that poses a risk to health and safety. Occupational violence, a form of bullying, involves physical attacks or threats in the workplace. At AKD, no form of bullying will ever be tolerated, condoned, or ignored. We are committed to providing a safe environment for all employees, because “It’s not part of the job.”

AKD’s Anti Discrimination and Harassment Policy

Harassment

Harassment includes any unwelcome behaviour that can make someone feel offended, humiliated, or intimidated. This can take many forms, including sexual, discriminatory, physical, verbal, psychological, and online harassment. At AKD, harassment has no place. We are dedicated to fostering a workplace where respect is the standard and everyone understands to “Know where the line is.”

Diversity and Inclusion

At AKD, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone feels they belong. We believe that when people can bring their whole selves to work, it creates a stronger and more collaborative environment. Discrimination, harassment, vilification, or victimization have no place here, as we strive to ensure equity for all. Together, we “Stand together against discrimination.”

See – Report – Support

Your safety and wellbeing are important to us and your team, reporting any incidents of harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behaviour as soon as possible is essential to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace.

Employees are encouraged to report any incident if experienced or witnessed. Prompt reporting allows the organisation to address concerns effectively, prevent further misconduct, and ensure that all employees are treated with fairness and dignity. The organisation is committed to investigating all reports thoroughly and protecting individuals from retaliation.

AKD RESPOND Steps

Steps to Report Bullying, Harassment, Discrimination or Victimisation

1. Speak Up (If You Feel Safe To Do So)
  • If you feel comfortable, tell the person their behaviour is not okay and ask them to stop.
  • Sometimes people are unaware their actions are offensive.

If this does not work:

2. Report the issue
a) Talk to Your Supervisor or Manager
  • Report what happened as soon as possible.
  • You will need to provide details about what occurred, when, and who was involved.
  • The discussion is confidential.
  • You can bring a 3rd person into discussion for support if you wish.
  • You can also raise your concern in writing or request a private meeting.
b) If escalation required
  • Speak to your Site Manager or site HR team member.
  • Follow the Issue Resolution Process.

3. We’ll Listen and Take Action
